Washington State (team photo courtesy WSU sports information) swept Washington in the annual UW/WSU dual meet in Pullman on Saturday, with the men winning 93-70, and the women crushing the Huskies 116-47.

Junior Jordan Boase of the UW took the NCAA lead in the 200-meters as well, running 20.37 seconds. The time is the second-fastest in Washington history, just behind UW legend Ja'Warren Hooker's 20.23, although Boase broke Hooker's UW-WSU dual meet record of 20.57 set back in 2001. Boase had not competed in the 200-meters since the MPSF Championships back in February, yet ran faster today than any collegian indoors or outdoors this year.

Finally, the SPU women finished just four points behind Western Oregon to place second overall at the GNAC Championships in Ellensburg. The SPU men’s team totaled 30 points for a seventh place finish.

The Falcon women captured three individual titles as Jane Larson, who set a new GNAC record, won the 3,000 meters (4:29.66), Melissa Peaslee the pole vault (11-09.00), and Brittany Aanstad in the javelin (147-10).

Heidi Dimmitt's meet record time in the women's 400-meter hurdles was the top performance for Western Washington University as the Vikings placed third in both the men's and women's standings at the GNAC meet.

The Viking women finished with 142 points. Western Oregon won the women's title with 162, its fourth team championship in the last six years.

The Western men had 152 points, narrowly edging defending champion Central Washington for third by 0.5 of a point. Western Oregon claimed the team title with 166.5 points, and Alaska Anchorage was second at 157.

Also successfully defending her crown in the women's discus was Erica Rance (Sr., Seattle/Renton) with a season-best mark of 140-9 on her last throw. That was just four inches short of the provisional qualifying standard.

The other individual winner for the Western women Saturday was Clara Cook (Jr., Wenatchee) in the high jump. Cook, the GNAC champion and an NCAA Division II All-American in 2006, cleared 5-4 1/4.

The Western men also had three individual champions Saturday. Kevin Myhre (Jr., Edmonds/Meadowdale) won the 400 hurdles in a season-best time of 53.75, Keefe Brockman (Fr., Richland/Hanford) won the high jump at 6-6, also a season-best, and Jordan Welling (Fr., Burlington/Burlington-Edison) won the 5,000.
