TORONTO, Ontario--Washington State University freshman Holly Parent (left/photo courtesy Washington State University), fresh from competing in last week's IAAF World Junior Track & Field Championships, finished in a tie for sixth in the senior women's high jump finals at Varsity Centre on the campus of the University of Toronto.

The reigning national junior champion only managed to clear 5-7 (1.70m), well off her personal best of 5-11 1/4 (1.81m), set at the NCAA West Regionals in May.

Nicole Forrester took the Canadian national title with a leap of 6-2 3/4 (1.90m).

The Canadian national championships conclude Saturday, as a trio of current and former Washington Huskies vie for titles and possible selection to its Commonwealth Games team.

Kyle Nielsen looks to defend his title in the men's javelin, while Ryan Vu (men's pole vault) and Carly Dockendorf (women's pole vault) aim for national championship titles.

Saturday's final day of competition will be aired on CBC Sports via CBUT, the Vancouver, BC affiliate station of the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC).

On Seattle area Comcast, CBUT is available on channel 99 and also on HD at channel 619.
