Quick Saturday notes...

Javelin thrower Kara Patterson (left/photo by Paul Merca) from Vancouver writes in her blog about the contrasts a year makes in traveling to Europe, and specifically to Gateshead, where she will compete in the Samsung Diamond League meet Saturday.

You can read it here....

Speaking of the Gateshead meet, former Husky Mart Israel is entered in the men's discus competition.

Start lists for the Aviva British Grand Prix, which is part of the Samsung Diamond League series of meets, are available here (click event name to see field)...

The meet will be streamed on UniversalSports.com starting at 9:30 am, and on TV on Universal Sports starting at 12:30 pm Saturday.

Finally, Seattle Times columnist Jerry Brewer puts down a list of Seattle's top 20 athletes in his new blog, "The Brewery", and Seattle Pacific's Jessica Pixler made the list. His criteria: "The players had to participate for a Seattle team during the 2009-10 athletic season."

His list looks pretty accurate; IMHO, the only track athlete I might have made a case for is UW's Scott Roth, who won an NCAA indoor title in the pole vault.

UW's Katie Follett and Kendra Schaaf make his list as honorable mention.
