Somewhat live from the Harry Jerome...

BURNABY, British Columbia--Just a quick note from the Harry Jerome Track Classic from here at Swangard Stadium just outside Vancouver.

We rolled in just in time to catch the end of the men's javelin, as Washington's Kyle Nielsen (left/photo by Paul Merca) finished second with a throw of 239-7 (73.04m), behind US national champ Sean Furey, who threw 252-3 (76.89m) to overtake Nielsen on his last throw.

US junior champ from the University of Washington Joe Zimmerman finished sixth with a toss of 216-2 (66.32m).

Men's high jump is about to start with ex-Husky Norris Frederick, as well as the women's pole vault with Carly Dockendorf.

The big event is the women's javelin featuring Kara Patterson, the three-time US national champ and new American record holder from Vancouver.

7:40 PM--Just talked to Norris Frederick, who no-heighted in the high jump. Turns out that he's got a bit of a problem with his left fibula, which was giving him problems in Des Moines at nationals.

They just introduced the athletes in the women's pole vault, including ex-Husky Carly Dockendorf.

BTW, this meet is being streamed live on media partner flotrack.org.
