National letter of intent day is today...

If you're wondering why a fax machine is featured today, it's because today is national letter of intent day around the country for both track & field and football.

A few days ago, we posted that Sheldon High School senior JJ Juilfs, the top returning pole vaulter in the nation, verbally committed to attending the University of Washington, and is expected to sign his letter of intent on the national signing day of February 2nd, according to the Eugene Register-Guard.

Though he is a football signee, the Huskies will have Skyline HS senior Kasen Williams, the highly publicized wide receiver who also has personal bests of 49-3 3/4 in the triple jump, 24-1 1/4 in the long jump, and 6-11 in the high jump.

Williams won the Washington 4A title in the high jump as a sophomore.

Assuming that he elects to compete in track (not an automatic), he could give the Huskies its best 1-2 punch in the jumps, to complement current freshman Kasen Covington.

We'll do our best to post updates from both the UW and WSU on signees as they are announced.  Folks may want to check out our Twitter page throughout the day for the quickest updates.

UPDATE (8:20 am)--UW football coach Steve Sarkisian posted on his Twitter page that Kasen Williams has officially submitted his national letter of intent...here is a link to Williams' bio, courtesy gohuskies.com.
