Crawford and Boase each earn fourth place finishes in Doha Diamond League opener...

DOHA, Qatar--Rainier Beach High School graduate Ginnie Crawford (left/photo by Paul Merca) finished fourth in the Doha Diamond League meeting at the Doha Sports Club Friday as the Samsung Diamond League series of top tier professional track & field meets began season number two.

Competing in the 100 meter hurdles, the three-time US world outdoor championships team member finished fourth in a season best 12.73, as Americans Kellie Wells (12.58 world leading mark), Danielle Carruthers (12.64) and pre-meet favorite Lolo Jones (12.67) finished ahead of her.

In the men's 200 meter dash, former Washington Husky and Pac 10 champion Jordan Boase finished fourth in the men's 200 after almost falling on his face due to a quick gun.

Walter Dix (20.06 world leader), Femi Ogunode of Qatar (20.30, national record), and Jaysuma Ndure of Norway (20.55) finished in front of the Bothell HS product.

In the men's discus, Marysville-Pilchuck HS graduate Jarred Rome finished in ninth with a mark of 195-2 (59.48m) on the third of his four throws.

Gerd Kanter of Estonia won the event with a world leading mark of 221-5 (67.49m).

Mountlake Terrace resident and 2007 outdoor world champion Brad Walker, formerly of the University of Washington no-heighted in the men's pole vault, missing three times at a modest opening height of 18-0.5 (5.50m).

Malte Mohr of Germany took the world lead in the event, winning with a mark of 19-0.75 (5.81m).

The Samsung Diamond League series moves on to Shanghai on May 15th.
