BARCELONA, Spain--Vancouver resident Tanner Sork (left/photo courtesy MileSplit), who just graduated from Forks HS in Camas, finished sixth in his heat of the 800 meters Friday at the IAAF World Junior Track & Field Championships at Estadio Olimpico.

Sork, who raised eyebrows after the Washington state high school meet, when he won the Washington/Oregon Border Duel in a PR 1:48.74, then beat Washington State's Joe Abbott at the Portland Track Festival, and made the US junior team in Bloomington, ran 1:50.80 on Friday morning.

Sork will enroll at Brigham Young University in the fall, where he originally planned to walk on, but was upgraded to scholarship status by distance coach Ed Eyestone after his streak in early June.
