We are here and ready to roll at Drake Stadium!

DES MOINES, Iowa--After a long day of travel and a late arrival into Des Moines, we are here at Drake Stadium (above/photo courtesy Drake University) for the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

As I'm writing, the University of Washington's Daje Pugh just went through the mixed zone after finishing sixth in the finals of the junior women's 100 hurdles, running 14.61, in her first race in the event since the Pac-12s in Los Angeles last month.

After five events in the junior women's heptathlon, Olivia Vincent of the Seatown Express TC is in eighth at 3662 points, while Brooke Feldmeier from Tumwater HS is in tenth at 3504.

In an hour, University Place resident Andrea Geubelle goes in the triple jump, while Collier Lawrence runs in the 3000 steeple.

Others competing in day 1 include Tacoma's Mark Wieczorek and WSU grad Joe Abbott in the mens 800; WSU grad Jeshua Anderson runs in the 400 hurdles.

UW alum Katie Mackey and Bellingham's Becca Friday goes in the women's 1500, and Rainier Beach HS grad Michael Berry goes in the 400.

Vancouver native Kara Patterson throws the javelin in competition for the first time since undergoing knee surgery.

In the men's 1500, Auburn Riverside grad Jordan McNamara runs his semi.

The University of Washington's Megan Goethals runs in the women's 10000 finals, and closing out the evening is Bellingham's Jake Riley in the men's 10000.

We will have a recap of Thursday's action later on this evening, and will try to supplement with tweets!
