3-time Chicago Marathon winner Liliya Shobukhova handed 2-year suspension...

According to a report by insidethegames.biz, three-time Chicago Marathon & one-time London Marathon winner Liliya Shobukhova (left/2010 photo by Paul Merca) of Russia has been given a two-year suspension for abnormalities in her biological passport, according to the Russian Athletics federation.

All results for Shobukhova since 2009 will be wiped out, including her three wins in Chicago from 2009-11, and her London win in 2010.  She will also, pending an appeal, lose her World Marathon Majors titles from 2009-10 and 2010-11, and be forced to repay all monies won, plus any appearance fees paid.

The World Marathon Majors race series consists of the Boston, Chicago, New York, London, Berlin and Tokyo marathons.

She ran the 10000 at the 2009 world championships in Berlin, where she finished 19th, and failed to finish the marathon at the London Olympics.  She's also run in the IAAF world cross country championships four times in the now-discontinued short race (4k), with a best placing of 23rd in Dublin in 2002.
