There's more than the Washington/Washington State dual meet happening in track and field this weekend for the state's college and professional athletes.

Friday afternoon, Seattle University and Eastern Washington University sent athletes down to Corvallis for the Oregon State University High Performance meet at Whyte Field.

With events still being contested as of 8 pm, Eastern Washington's Jordan Arakawa continued his hot streak in the hammer, winning the event with a toss of 210-4 (64.10m).

Curtis HS alum Dakarai Hightower, competing for Lane CC in Oregon, won the high jump with a leap of 7-0.25 (2.14m).  SeattleU's Dylan Burnett finished second in the javelin with a toss of 220-4 (67.16m).

Eastern's Catie Arrigoni and Paula Gil-Echevarria continued their strong efforts in the steeple, finishing 2-3 in times of 10:20.75, and 10:29.03.

Most of Washington's Division II schools will compete at the Saint Martin's Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Saint Martin's University in Lacey.

With this weekend being the final weekend of the regular season, this meet will be the last opportunity for those on the bubble to qualify for next weekend's Great Northwest Athletic Conference meet  in Monmouth, Oregon, hosted by Western Oregon University.

One of the top athletes entered in the meet is Washington State University alum Princess Joy Griffey, who is contending to represent the Philippines in the Asian Games track & field competition in September in Incheon, Korea.  Griffey is the country's second fastest woman in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes.

Also entered in the meet is Western Washington's Bethany Drake, the Division II national leader in the javelin at 169-6.

Finally, several members of the Brooks Beasts are entered in Sunday's Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational in Palo Alto on the campus of Stanford University.

For the Beasts, Cas Loxsom and Mark Wieczorek are entered in the men's 800; Riley Masters is in the 1500, and Garrett Heath is in the 5000, which has drawn a lot of buzz, with a sub-13 attempt by several members of the Bowerman Track Club.

Angela Bizzarri, Katie Mackey, Jessica Tebo and Brie Felnagle are entered in the women's 5000.

Also entered in the women's 5000 is the University of Idaho's Hannah Kiser from Wenatchee and Washington alum Mel Lawrence of Oiselle.  Stephanie Dinius from Sequim is in the women's 10000.

Bellingham native Jake Riley, now competing for Hanson's/Brooks Distance Project will go in the men's 10000.
