Ex-Bellingham resident Donn Cabral third in Luzern...

LUZERN, Switzerland--Former Bellingham resident Donn Cabral (left/photo by Paul Merca) was third in the 3000 steeplechase at the Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern meeting Tuesday.

Cabral, the 2012 US Olympian who trained and lived in Bellingham after graduating from Princeton University, ran 8:22.40, just off of his season best of 8:20.04 set at the USA national championships in late June.

Clement Kemboi of Kenya won the race in 8:21.50.

In other events, Washington alum Martin Bingisser won the hammer with a best of 215-2 (65.58m). 

Vancouver native Kara Patterson finished fourth in the women's javelin with a best of 194-11 (59.42m).
