Here's what's happening this weekend with Washington college & pro athletes...

This weekend, most of Washington’s Division I and II schools will gather in Spokane for the annual WAR X (WAshington vs the Region) meet, hosted by Spokane Community College Saturday.

Participating in the meet are Gonzaga, SeattleU, Eastern Washington, and Washington State from Division I, and Central Washington from Division II. The Cougars plan to enter 40 men and 31 women in the WAR meet.

Saint Martin’s heads to Monmouth, Oregon for the John Knight Twilight Friday, while Seattle Pacific and Western Washington go north to Burnaby, BC for the Emilie Mondor Invitational hosted by Simon Fraser.

The University of Washington is off this weekend before they return to California next weekend for the Mt. SAC Relays.

On the pro circuit, University Place resident and 2016 US Olympian Andrea Geubelle (left/photo by Paul Merca) opens up her outdoor campaign at the Sun Angel Classic meet Saturday night in Tempe, Arizona, hosted by Arizona State University.  

Geubelle is the defending triple jump champion at the Sun Angel.


Washington alum Norris Frederick is entered in the long jump at the Grenada Invitational in St. Georges Saturday. 

ESPN2 will have coverage of the Grenada Invitational.
